Phase II Drill Program Begins

Abacus Mining & Exploration Corporation (TSX.V:AME) (the "Company") announces the start of its Phase II diamond drilling exploration program on the Company's Afton area properties near Kamloops, British Columbia. The program will consist of 15,000 metres of diamond drilling specifically targeting the DM, Audra and Crescent areas, and the Rainbow area.

DM/Audra/Crescent Zone

The drilling at the DM, Audra and Crescent area will focus on expanding the known zones of copper-gold mineralization. On the DM zone, drilling by the company and previous operators has defined a zone of copper-gold mineralization up to 200 metres in depth within an area 150 metres by 350 metres. The zone is open on three sides and at depth. The historical drilling indicates that two known mineralized DM intrusive breccia bodies appear to be coalescing at depth. On a larger scale, geophysical IP anomalies also indicate that the DM, Audra, and Crescent zones may also join at depth. Drilling will also test the Audra and Crescent areas.

The DM zone lies one kilometre east from the past producing Afton Pit and is the western most zone of a 2.5 kilometre mineralized trend referred to as the DM, Audra, Crescent area. This mineralized trend lies within a 5 kilometre long structural corridor that extends from the Afton Deposit in the west to the Big Onion deposit in the east.

Rainbow Zone

Drilling at the Rainbow zone will focus on expanding the mineralized zone comprising the #2 and #22 zones. Drilling earlier in the year successfully defined a zone 700 metres in length, up to 100 metres wide, and over 400 metres in depth. The zone lies within a 3D induced polarization geophysical anomaly which extends a further 700 metres to the northwest. This extension has not yet been tested and the mineralized zone is open to extension both on strike and to depth. The Coquihalla zone, situated 1,000 metres northwest of the #2 zone and 500 metres southeast of the previously mined Pothook pit, will also be drill tested.

Eco Tech Laboratory Ltd. of Kamloops, B.C. will complete the Company's analytical work on the project. A quality control program, using specific standards and blank samples will be completed by Eco Tech of Kamloops, and ALS Chemex Labs of North Vancouver, B.C. Mr. Robert R. Friesen, P. Geo and Mr. Robert Darney, P. Geo are the qualified persons responsible for the design and conduct of the work performed.

A drill plan map and sections of the DM zone and the Rainbow property are available on the Company's website at http://www.amemining.com.
