Abacus Mining & Exploration Corporation ("Abacus" or the "Company") (TSXV:AME) announces that the Board of Directors has approved the issuance of 1,500,000 stock options in connection with a new director appointment announced on April 1, 2016. The stock options, provided under the Company's approved stock option plan, are exercisable at a price of $0.06 per share for a period of five years from the date of grant, and are subject to regulatory approval.

Abacus is a mineral exploration and mine development company with a 20% interest in the Ajax Project located at the historic Ajax-Afton site southwest of Kamloops, B.C. The Ajax Project is a proposed copper-gold-silver open-pit mine for which an application for environmental certificate (Application/EIS) was submitted to the provincial and federal governments in January 2016. Through KGHM Ajax Mining Inc., a joint venture company between Abacus (20%) and KGHM Polska Miedz S.A. (KGHM) (80%), the mine is being funded in large part by KGHM and operated by its wholly-owned subsidiary, KGHM International Ltd.
